The evolution of Hip Hop

Seeing those dodgy hip hop videos down there got me thinking about how far hip hop has come. How it started as beats and rapping because the kids who started it couldn’t afford anything more and has evolved into something so different and boundary blurring, yet kept itself true to its roots (well, the good stuff has, anyway). Be clear, when I talk about hip hop, I’m talking about the real stuff, people who’ve come from the same backgrounds, who have the same mentality. Hip hop’s ability to merge with almost any other style is what keeps it fresh and exciting, hip hop’s difficult and troubled background is what keeps it honest.

We’ve found a couple of example of excellent new songs showcasing just that. Enjoy.
